Seoul Land inside

If you have to choose only one Korean theme park to go to, it is basically the convenient, date friendly spot of Lotte World vs. the relative nice facilities and family friendliness of Everland.
Seoul Land trails a distant third, and is in need of an update since it’s opening in 1988 timed for the Olympics. It is fun for kids of course, the younger the better.

The zoo is the real highlight, where the animal lover inside of you could spend most of the time with the kids. The park is located in Gwacheon, straight south of Seoul on a main highway that runs with subway Line 4. Since the park is so easy to access and you were tired of the wildlife in the city, you could spend an afternoon down at the zoo with more of the kind of wildlife you are accustomed to. Pet the animals to your hearts content and see if you wanted to wander around the rest of the park.

Different sections are based on the concepts of Voyage, Fantasy and Future. One should look into a discount card before heading down to the park, as it is really worth a laugh with the children if the price is right. Check the Visitkorea link in the blogroll to see if the discount and the fact that it is a little easier to get to than Everland is enough to sway you to head to Gwacheon.

Fortunately, Seoul Land has other nice things around it to check out. One km. to the north is Seoul Race Park, with horse racing you can bet on and a nice exclusive area that is foreigners only to check to see how your wagers did.

To the west is a large lake that is nice to take a stroll around. To the south is the National Museum of Contemporary Art, and if you keep walking you’ll find a nice large park and beyond that the zoo. Every year you can find tulips and other nice flowers in bloom at the park, and sometimes they hold nice events there. The Rose Garden is quite cool and there’s a special rest area to rest your dogs since this area has more to walk to than Everland. Enjoy the park year round.

So if you are unsure about Everland, check out Seoul Land. The facilities might not amaze you, so then you’d have options including the museum, zoo, park and horse track.
